12:29 pm - Back from the Cottage
We just returned to the city last night from the cottage and we made it in time to watch the Canada Day fireworks display at Ontario place from our condo balcony which is situated so we can watch them without having to go outside and brave the crowds. We had a great time at the lake with the grand kids and their parents, who came up a few days later, and we managed to put in the water system and fill the bird feeders along with swimming and having some much needed relaxing time. I brought up my Baby Taylor and played some songs for the kids. One of the girls, Caitlin, caught a nice 3 pound walleye right off the dock and I had to help remove the hook and set it free. There were bear sighting at a nearby relatives cottage so we went and checked out for damage and everything was Ok. Next weekend we are off to see Pete Seeger at Hugh's Room then it is back to the cottage for a few more days and then a House Filk and then off to Confluence to see our friends Lord Landless, a wonderful filk group from Germany!!!! There is also rumours that a good British friend of mine might be there. In August we are off to see my brother in Winnipeg who is recovering in hospital after a stroke. We will also get in some time with Dave C and the Bhigg Housians and my friends back in Winterpeg and take in the Heather Dale Concert..

6:15 pm - Duckon and Stuff
Just thought I would post a short report on our trip to Chicago and Duckon. What a fantastic time we had and Jan and her team put on a wonderful filk track . This has to be one of the best non-filk conventions we have ever attended. Lots of old and new friends, great music, we made blinkies and had an overall fun time. Friday started with opening ceremonies which included Ookla the Mok doing a hillarious panel/concert called Hi I'm a Mac/Acoustic and Hi I'm a PC/Electric and a birds of prey demonstration. Next we ran off to make a Blinkie which is a kind of a ritual at Duckon. Sue picked the most complicated and difficult kits to make which was a 5x7 35 LED programmable one and we sat down and started assembling our kits and soldering the components. Sue had hers finished before me and they plugged in batteries and hers worked right off. Mine was not so lucky and a few of my solder joints had to be repaired before I finally had success. Saturday morning I was on two panels "Home Studios" with Jeff Bonhoff and Mike Whitaker and "Care and Feeding of things with Strings" with Gary Hanak, D.Gunderson and M.Whitaker. Next it was off to my friend Phillip Mills excellent concert where I provide backing on guitar and mandolin on a couple of songs. After this we went to Jeff Bohnhoff's Parody Writing Workshop which was very informative and then it was off to Gary Hanak's Concert a filker I had never met before and he did an amazing concert and I enjoyed him very much. Next it was off to the main stage for a concert by Ookla the Mok who did a mix of their material along with some songs from their up and coming children's CD. We especially liked "Go To Bed" and have sang it to our grandkids. Next up were the Guests of Honour Jeff and Maya Bohnhoff who did a fantastic concert with a mix of their classics and new material. Up next was our "Stone Dragons" Concert spot at 9:00pm and we had a good turnout for our only 2nd concert ever and we did an hour of our own songs plus some favourites of ours by others. Next was the art auction followed by Toyboat Concert culminating in Jeff Bohnhoff and Mike Whitaker joining them on stage to rock out. We finished the evening off with late night filking where we were joined by Riverfolk and many others. Sunday was a slighty more relaxing day with Mike Whitaker's concert and it was great to see and hear my Brit friend again and I enjoyed his concert very much. Next up were my old friends Riverfolk from Minneapolis and I found myself singing along with most of their stuff and I especially enjoyed one I had not heard before I think it was called "Camping by the Sun". We enjoyed the Dead Duck and we ordered in pizza and played music to the wee hours. It was cool to play along with my friend Andy Anda again and he is a wonderful musician. Life is back to normal now for a while and we have 4 concerts coming up this summer to go to; Tip Splinter Reunion Concert, Pete Seeger, Andy Irvine and Dougie Maclean. It is amazing I get to see so many of my all time favourites all in one year. Sue and I have decided we can afford to go to Confluence this year and see our friends "Lord Landless" from Germany who are the music guests and who are fantastic. Everyone will be in for a treat. That is all for now

12:24 pm - Tahitian Guitar
Hi everyone, We are back from our Honeymoon in Tahiti and we had an amazing 2 weeks even if the flight there and back was a killer (Toronto - Chicago - LA - Tahiti) where we spent almost 15 hrs flying alone and another 8 or so waiting in airports. The islands were amazing especially Bora Bora and Moorea and I am now hooked on cruising on a ship. The only cruise I had ever been on before was in Kenora Canada back in the 90's where I managed to get Dandelion Wine a gig on a cruise of the lake. This was much better and sposter and I managed to take in a lot of island excursions including a sunset cruise of Bora Bora in a catamaran sailing boat operated by a group of Tahitian musicians. I also got to play a traditional island instrument which is shown in my user pix. It was a cross between a guitar and a ukelele and had 6 pairs of strings. I was trying to communicate in French with the Tahitian fellow who was playing as to how it was tuned when he handed it over with a pick. I would have liked to brought one back with me but realised it was too big and besides our Condo is now full of instruments and recording equipment :-\ When we got back home reality set in with dentist appointments and income tax reassesments and bills :-P Oh well!!! We went to the cottage last week and opened it up and everything was fine with only one large whole in the screened in porch area which I suspect was from a Flying Walinda Raccoon who swang in from a nearby tree. It was a wonderful quiet and relaxing time and hardly anyone was out there yet. We passed by an old dead tree while going through a narrow in the lake and there were 6 large Cormorants on the branches sitting dead still staring into the water. After the cabin we went to a House Filk at Sally's and it was great to see all of our friends again and enjoy their company and music. They surprised Sue with a birthday cake as well!!! Thank you all for being our friends and filk family. Yesterday was Sue's birthday and we celebrated by my cleaning out the office and rearranging my instruments and mike stands so she could get to her computer. We then rehearsed songs for Balticon and then went to see Iron Man at the movies. It was a fun and exciting movie and we both enjoyed it very much. Today we are off to Sue's daughter's for a barbecue and more birthday celebrations and then it is off to Balticon on Thursday. Hope we will see some of you there and we are looking forward to our "The Stone Dragons" first concert spot.

11:42 am - Wedding and Honeymoon
Hi Everyone, Well the wedding and convention are over and we are now Mr. & Mrs. Jeffers!!!!! Everything went well and it was the most amazing wedding with lots of our friends and family, Fairies with wings, Unicorns, live piping by my friend Al, a special wedding song from Dave and all your smiling faces. Sue was the most beautiful bride in the costume she made and together we said our vows in a fairy tale like setting. We forgive all those who took part in re-decorating our room and hanging a sign on our car!!! We are not one's to pay people back ;-] Thank you also to all those who took so many wonderful pictures. After the wedding we hosted Marilissa and David from England along with my best man Dave C and we all had a wonderful relaxing time. Marilissa and Dave caught the street car in front of our Condo door and explored downtown Toronto and Dave and I did some recording in my studio. One night we got together with Heather Dale and Ben and their significant others for Chineese food. Dave C is now off in his home town of Port Dover visiting with his family and we leave tomorrow for our honeymoon in Tahiti !!!! 13 days of relaxing in the sun and crusing French Polynesia and the Cook Islands. We have also planned some shore excursions where we will be taken on a catamaran to a uninhabited island where we will be dropped off to relax in the ocean and on the beach. Thank you again to all of you for being there for us and to the ConCom for allowing us the opportunity to share this time with everyone. We are both truely blessed to have each other and so many loving firends from all over the world. We hope to see many of you again in the future especially all our friends over seas.

5:40 pm - Wedding and FKO
FKO is approaching very soon and the wedding is in it's final planning stages. Sue is still busy making her costume and it is looking beautiful. We are looking forward so much to seeing all of you who are coming and partaking of our special moment together at 7:00 pm on Friday at the Con. Feel free to wear a costume if you have one. We had both never planned on getting married again but the forces of love, music and nature have brought us together. It is stacking up to be an amazing convention and I am looking forward to hearing and meeting the Bedlam Bards from Texas for the first time along with Vixy and Tony, Heather Dale and my adopted sisters Urban Tapestry ;-) As it turns out, my friend and former band mate Al, from Curraugh will be flying in along with Dave so there will be a reunion of this group as such and maybe we will play at some of the late night filks. Hope everyone has a safe trip here to Toronto and we send you all Big Hugs.

10:18 am - Wedding Plans and other stuff
I am finally getting around to posting and LJ has been put on the back burner a bit and replaced by wedding and honey moon arrangements. The time is fast approaching when Sue and I will be joined as husband and wife in front of our friends and family and filk family. We are both looking forward to sharing this wonderful experience with all of you at FKO. We have planned a special honey moon after cruising French Polynesia and the Cook Islands and this will be my first ever cruise. Sue said I am not allowed to bring my fishing rod and fish off the boat :-\ Recording on the new DW CD is coming along well and Dave will be coming to Toronto late in March to hopefully lay down some more tracks. A few weeks ago we replaced all of our living room furniture with more Condo friendly Lazy both love seats and a smaller dining room table. Next up is painting the walls and buying some storage units from Ikea. We also recently took in a couple of concerts at Markham Theatre and one was called "Drum" from Nova Scotia featuring Irish, African, French Canadian, Zydeco, North America Indian and East Coast drumming singing and dancing. The other concert was one called "Blind Date" where you buy your tickets without knowing who the performers will be. This time it was Connie Kaldor and The Sons of Maxwell from the East Coast. Both shows were fantastic. Last night we were at a house filk at Sally's and we had a blast and it was great to see Karen Lindsley (who shocked me by singing in Klingon :-O), Debbie, Allison (did some songs I had never heard them do before and they were fantastic), Judith, Dave, Peggi (who did a wonderful job on Discovery) and Ken ( he did a wonderful job on Ripple) and most of the regulars Phil and Jane, Howard. Merle Andre, Alex and Mara and the music was great. Oh and the food was pretty awesome as well. What a great way to spend a Saturday with friends, music and good food and chat. Take care everyone and we hope to see some of you at FKO.

12:12 pm - I will miss you Greg
Sue and I were both deeply saddened to hear the sad news of Greg's passing. I met Greg many times at conventions and he always had a smiling face and kind words. He was a big fan of Dandelion Wine's music and told me on many occasions. He truely loved filk music and the filk community and we will all miss him so very much. Hugs and condolences to his family.

2:54 pm - Back from Confusion
Sue and I just returned last night from a fun time in Troy Michigan at Confusion. We were joined by a fairly large Toronto contingent. The music guest this year was Throwing Toasters (Grant Baciocco) from California and he has been classified as a stand up comic with a guitar and I enjoyed his music and comedy very much. Friday night featured a concert by The Great Luke Ski and two theme filks "The Stars our Destination" and "Music of Middle Earth" which were well attended and a lot of fun. Saturday was a full day starting with a panel I was on called "Strange Music, Strange Instruments and the Filkers who Love Them". I brought along my Spanish Laud plus an African Thumb Harp and the rest of the panelists (Peter, Jane and Peggi) also had an array of unique instruments. The panel was well attended and it was great to see the audience join in and talk about thier unusual instruments. Peter's Lego Dulcimer still amazes me!! Sue and ran off to see an astronomical slide show after this hosted by Bill Higgins which we enjoyed very much and then we checked out the Dealer's and Art rooms. I fell in love with an adorable wolf puppet who I have named "Link" and he is now living in Canada with us ;-) The rest of the day was filled with Concerts by Peter Alway, Tom Smith, Luke Ski, Throwing Toasters, Eloise Mason and Bill Roper and yours truly. I chose to do a mix of original cuts from the new DW CD scheduled for release later this year along with a brand new song "Tiny Stars". Sunday I attended a Comedy Song Workshop featuring Tom Smith, Luke Ski and Grant Baciocco which was fantastic and it made me wish I could write a funny song and I guess the closest I have written is "Gone Filkin" of course there is the "Where is your Heart Debbie-O" song :-D We finished off with some later afternoon filking which we called the "Toronto House Filk" since everyone there was from Toronto except for Peter Alway. The drive home was fun with Jane and Phil and we missed the snow squall that hit northern parts of Toronto and cause a 100 car pile up on the 400 freeway. Today we are just relaxing and cleaning up and unpacking and I will be doing some more recording.

10:45 am - A Wonderful Christmas
Well this was Sue and my 2nd Christmas together and it was fantastic. Last year we had just driven across Canada together from my previous home in Winnipeg to my new home in Toronto and we arrived in a snow storm and it was my first time driving on a freeway in a blizzard with everything I own in my SUV with no vision out my back window :-\ This year was a lot less stressful and we were able to spend time shopping and decorating the Condo and spending time with friends and family. This year we had a Condo full of people with the 4 grandkids, Sue's daughters and their husbands and significant others. Christmas morning was spent opening up stockings and gifts and watching the kids go crazy with their presents. The first gift I received was what I thought was a DVD but on closer inspection was a Wii game. Sue said "Oh gee am I ever dumb, I thought it was a DVD". At this point I was more than a little suspicious and the next gift proved I was right as it was a Wii Game system. Now we are the most popular people around and maybe someday I will get to play it :-D Christmas Day was also spent in our Condo swimming pool and hot tub and that was fun and the kids got to work off some pent up energy. We then retired back to the Condo for a delicious Turkey Dinner. Later in the evening we watched the new Harry Potter movie. Sue and I picked up a bug after Christmas and we were busy taking cold medicine and coughing on each other. As a result we passed on the music party and get together at Judith's after Christmas and we both felt bad about that. We have now pretty well recovered and are off to a Music/New Years Party at Phil and Jane's this afternoon which will be a lot of fun. Next weekend Ken and Peggi are dropping over and hopefully I will have my recording studio working since Ken has been helping me work the bugs out. It may be a problem with my firewire card. Well that's about all for now and I hope everyone had a nice holiday and Hugs to everyone and all the best and lots of love and music in the New Year.

10:58 am - Week Till Christmas
Hi Everyone, Just a note to wish you all a Merry Christmas. Sue and I have almost finished all our shopping and it is sure nice being retired and having the freedom to go to the stores on a week day to avoid the shoppers although it was still pretty busy. Yesterday we went to the "Cheese Boutique" and picked up a few more gifts. Wow what an amazing place and we were joined by our friend Merle. Afterwards we went for lunch to "The Grill" our favourite breakfast place. We are having the family over to the Condo on Christmas with all the grand kids and we plan to open gifts and then go swimming in the pool and have a turkey dinner in the evening. Tonight we are going to see Quartette at Hugh's Room with two filker friends from here in Toronto and we are looking forward to that very much. Quartette is made up of 4 leading figures in Canadian Folk Music, Sylvia Tyson (Ian & Sylvia fame), Cindy Church, Caitlin Hanford and Gwen Swick. A few days ago we checked out a new little Irish Pub that just opened up near us called "The Brazen Head Pub". The food was good and the atmosphere was nice with a view of the CN Tower but I would have preferred some Irish Music being played instead of rock :-\ Oh well. They tell me they do plan on having live irish music in the future. Last weekend Toronto was hit with a snow storm which they say is the worst in December history. I think we got about 20 or 25 cm downtown here with strong winds but compared to the weather I use to live with in Winnipeg, this was just a minor disturbance. I have to remember that most Torontonians have never experienced -50C weather with snow up to your waist or higher and white out conditions for days on end. Things have warmed up again here and a lot of the snow has melted away but they are calling for another storm on Christmas Day so we will cross our fingers that this does not happen since a lot of people will be travelling on that day. It has been a year now since I moved here to Toronto and it has gone by so fast and we have done so many things and been so many places. Next year we plan to take things a little easier and spend more time out at the cabin on Crane Lake. Of course our wedding is coming up at FKO in April and we have been busy making plans for that and we look forward to having lots of our filker friends celebrate with us plus our family. We have both been busy writing new songs and working up new material which we debuted some of last weekend at the House Filk. I am still working on my recording studio and trying to work out the bugs so I can do more work on the new Dandelion Wine CD. That's all the news for now and we wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.

1:31 pm - A Day to Myself
Today I have a day to myself since sposter is off on a 3 day course on "Dream Weaver". her son-in-law Stephen dropped over this morning and we both worked out in the gym and then sat around in the Condo discussing life, hapiness and the future. Yesterday we had some of the family and the grand daughters over after the Santa Parade for a swim in the pool and a soak in the hot tub. We then sat around and watched "Ratatoullie" before having some of my special lasagna for supper. Overall a wonderful day!!! My next project is to work on my recording studio in preparation for laying down tracks for the new DW CD right after I make myself a healthy lunch.

10:17 am - Back from the Cabin and stuff
Hi everyone, It has been a hectic few months what with going to Germany and attending OVFF shortly after and Sue and I are looking forward to relaxing a bit and I can finally get working on recording in my studio. Last weekend we went out to the cabin and closed it down for the winter. It was a gorgeous weekend to do it and the colours were beautiful. This is my favourite time of the year and we had a huge pilliated woodpecker land on the tree in front of the cottage windows. Normally they are back in the bush and you only hear them. We hauled out the water system and pulled the canoe and row boat out of the water and I took down all the bird feeders. We packed up all the canned goods that would freeze over the winter and emptied out the fridge. Tomorrow I am off to join Sue's daughter Liz and a building inspector check out the new home they are buying and Wednesday we are off to vocal lessons. Sunday a group of us are all going off for dinner and a concert to see David Francey perform at Hughe's Room. Congratulations to all the Pegasus winners this year and Sue and I had a wondeful time at OVFF. See you all next year!!

Hi everyone! We are finally getting around to posting our Filk Continental con report and life has finally seemed to settle down a lot since getting back from Germany. We have posted some pictures on my Flicker site http://www.flickr.com/photos/30674963@N00/sets/72157602529617332/ , showing the fun we had at the con and our beautiful tour of Germany. Thanks to Anke and Franklin and Molly and family and we would also like to thank Ju and Bear for their hospitality and showing us a wonderful time. We would also like to thank all the con com for inviting Dandelion Wine as guests and for taking such good care of us. This was a time we will cherish in memories of new friends made and old friends met. OK, enough of the schmaltzy stuff! Here is the con report:

6:07 pm - Have'n a Good Time Yeh!
Hi Everyone, I am finally getting around to posting some comments about the British Filk Con Sue and I attended back in February. We had a wonderful time and it was great to see my old frends again and make many new ones. Sue was made to feel right at home and is already talking about our next trip back some year. Some of the highlights for me were getting to perform my "Gone Filkin' " with NmC in their concert and having Sue come up and join me on Long Night in my 2 song spot. Then there was the fun of being in the lobby when Divine Scrumpet performed and hearing the original Weird Sister's perform again plus Lady Mondigreen blowing everyone away in thier concert. My good buddy Lawrence Dean was there as well and we got to hang out most of the Con. The late night filking was a joy and it was great to hear Sybilla again as well as many of my other German friends like Katy and Yu. Oh, and SteveMac and I got to sing "The Hockey Monkey Song" on our backs at the late night filk. It doesn't get much better than this. Thanks to the Concom for putting on a wonderful convention. One other memorable event was being able to perform my reply to Talis Kimberley's "Tom's Cross" which she wrote for me and performed at OVFF some 7 years ago. Back here in Toronto, Sue and I have been busy doing some enhancement work to the Condo and with her encouragement I am starting to become a bit of a handyman having installed a bathroom vanity and helped paint the 2nd bedroom. This is all fairly new to me and I would rather have a guitar in my hands than an electric screw driver but I think I am getting the hang of this and so far the vanity has not fallen down when you slam the bathroom door shut :-D Last weekend we went to see a group called Tanglefoot in Concert and we were joined by Judith and Dave, Peggy and Ken and Sally and Howard and we had a fabulous time. I had heard of this band before and had played them on my old radio show back in Winnipeg for years but I had never seen them live. They all had wonderful voices, write their songs and are talented musicains on the fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo, bass and keyboards. You can see a picture I took in my User Pic. Dave Clement arrives in a week or so and will be staying with us before FKO so we are both looking forward to seeing him again and having lots of fun. Speaking of FKO, it is looking fabulous this year as always but this year will be even more wonderful with the 16 British Guests, NmC, who are coming. Can't wait to see you all again !!!!!! Take care, Hugs, Tom

9:49 am - Tom & Sue Get Henged
Hi Everyone, Sorry for not posting something sooner but we just got back from England and are battling colds and the flu. Yes the rumours are true, I proposed to Sue at Stonehenge which came completely as a surprise to her. I had planned this for sometime and wasn't sure if I could pull it off as planned. Our tour package took us to Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Bath so I managed to talk to our tour guide at Windsor Castle about my plans to propose in the inner circle at Stonehenge and she was ecstatic stating no one had ever proposed to anyone in all her years as a tour guide, When we got on the bus I noticed the tour guide calling someone on her cell phone which I figured was probably security at Stonehenge to see if they could arrange me taking Sue into the inner circle. When we arrived at Stonehenge the tour guide whispered to me that everything was approved and to follow her to the spot when we got out of the bus. I was madly trying to keep up with the tour guide in order to propose at the spot allowed and Sue being oblivious to what was going on was stopping to take pictures and requesting I sit with her on benches to view Stonehenge while the tour guide was madly motioning with her head to a spot by the Heel Stone. Finally we got to the spot and they lifted the ropes to let us in and Sue was still unaware what was going on until I got down on one knee and proposed. I believe I said "This is a magical place where magical things have happened and another magical thing is about to happen" Will you marry me?" . She said Yes!!! and a tour guide from another company came running over to ask if she had said yes or no. :-) On our way back to London we were given a Congratulations Card signed by all the people on the bus, people from Germany, Australia, Russia, England and the U.S. So this is the whole story in a nut shell and I apologise for being so late notifying all our friends out there. We will be posting a trip and Con report soon. Hugs, Tom and Sue

2:40 pm - Sue's Visit to Winnipeg
Last week my sweetie sposter came to Winnipeg for a visit and we had a wonderful time together. Friday was spent doing some touristy things and we took a tour of the Royal Canadian Mint which was one of the things Sue had wanted to see. We watched them make coins and we got to lift a real gold bar which was attached to a chain and guarded by a security person with guns at the ready!!! So no samples handed out :-( After the tour we went for DimSum at a favourite restaurant of mine and then back to my place for some R & R. Later in the evening we joined Dave and some friends for supper before going off to see Sam Baardman and James Keelaghan Concert. The concert was fantastic but sadly Sam was a no-show because of a severe stomach flu he suddenly contracted. Saturday was spent hanging out together some more and I prepared a special Birthday Supper for Sue complete with cake and candles and heart shaped balloons. Later in the evening Dave, Al and Nancy dropped by and we had a music party with a special link to friend Ruth and her boyfriend Dave who are teaching English in Weyhi China. We used "Skype" and the computer phone system along with head phones and some good microphones. It worked out really well except for a bit of an echo which was feed back from the microphone and the speakers on my computer so we rectified that by plugging in the head phones when we were performing thus cutting out the speakers. We ended up taking turns playing songs and requests and it was so cool to here Dave and Ruth perform songs in Chinese and using their erhu's. Overall it was a wonderful time and we vowed to try this again. It would be fun for some of us filkers out there to hook up and do this sometime. Dont you think? ;-) Sunday I took Sue for a bit of a tour of downtown Winnipeg and the Golden Boy, the MTS Centre, Concert Hall, Pantages etc. and then we went to the forks which is where the Red River and Assiniboine River meet and Winnipeg's first aboriginal inhabitants lived. They have found arrow heads at the site along with the ruins of an Old Fort (Gibraltor I believe). We rode the glass elevator up to the top where we had a great view of the whole site and the downtown buildings. Next we shopped in the Market Place and bought some recently made fudge ( I got Bailey's Irish Cream Fudge and Sue got a Chocolate nutty one). Urban Tapestry knows all about this place ;-) Next we went to a neat place near the Forks that is built in a grass bowled area and features large metal sculptures (like you would see on a bridge support system) and each structure is surrounded at the base by concrete blocks with carvings of the solar system and galaxies. These structures surrounded the grass bowl depression along the top. One of the structures had metal strings stretched across it that turned it into a wind harp. We camped on the grass underneath the wind harp and listened to the amazing music it was making. We also came a cross some buskers doing Irish Celtic music and they turned out to be some friends of mine so we sat and watched them for a while and ate some freshly baked cinammon miny doughnuts. :-P Sunday night it was off to do my radio show and Sue joined me and helped out with the show. We played some filk music on the show by filkers such as Chris Conway, Urban Tapestry, Meg Davis, Heather Dale, Heather Alexander, Talis Kimberley and many others. Sue did a fantastic job announcing and I have a hard time believing she never did this before :-\ Monday was a relaxing day and we went over to the Bhigg House and spent time with them before I had to take Sue to the airport to catch her flight. home :-P In July I am going to Toronto to visit Sue and then we are going to drive to Pittsberg and Confluence to hear the Musician Guest, my good friend Lawrence Dean, from England. I am looking forward to seeing and hearing him again and I also will have a concert spot which I am very excited about. :-) Check out the Confluence website to see a list of performers who will be there including Erica Neeley and Pete Grubbs. After Confluence Sue and I are heading back to Toronto and then out to her cottage near Parry Sound for a week. It is going to be a fantastic time and I can't wait to go :-) While in Toronto we are also going to see David Francey perform at Hughes Room plus we will go and see the Lord of the Rings musical plus a host of other things. :-O. My retirement plans are still going through and hopefully I can pull the plug at the end of December. That is all for now. Take care everyone.

Hi Everyone, Just a quick entry to say what a great time I had at FKO ;-) I surprised a whole lot of people including myself by going and I am so happy I went :-) I finally got to meet Christo from England and he was everything I expected and more. What a show he put on. The new Ookla Band was fantastic and Tony and Michelle were amazing and Franklin and UT knocked my socks off. Plus I got to meet this new and fantastic filker from Germany called Sybille. So much great music and laughter and hugs and it reminds me why I go to these things. I will post more later but I would just like to thank everyone involved in putting on the Con for a wonderful job. Big Hugs to you all. And congratulations to all the Filk Hall of Fame inductees especially my Bud SteveMac and Gretchen, more than well deserved. Big Hugs to my sweetie as well ;-) Hugs, Tom

12:36 pm - Heeeeeeeeeeee's Backkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!
Hi everyone, I am finally getting around to Posting again. I have been busy planning for my retirement at the end of this year and there is just so much to think about. In one way I am excited of the prospect of having time to do what I want when I want but in another I will miss the daily interaction with people at work. Unlike some others who I know who have retired, I will have lots to keep me busy and I still plan to do music and travel whenever I can. I still have my radio show that I do every Sunday night and I have my recording studio to maybe bring in a few bucks extra every once and a while. I am very upset I can't be at FKO this year but I made the decision to pull the plug at work and I needed to bank 50 days vacation towards my pension which will increase my pension checks by $100 a month so nothing to sneeze at. Since I got back from Gafilk things have been pretty mundane and I have not done anything musical except work in my recording studio on a project. Dave has been bit by the travel bug again and has been over in England, Wisconsin and now Toronto and Port Dover. I have been to a few House Concerts which I really enjoy and have had a jam with an old rock buddy of mine Steve. Steve actually brought an acoustic guitar to my place which was a bit of a shock since he is a strictly electric guitar man. I finally retired my old computer and bought a new HP lap top which is something I have always wanted and that I can take travelling with me. I am amazed how far lap tops have come now and it makes my Dell PIII look like a kids toy and has a bigger screen (17" Wide Screen). It even comes with a remote control (just what a guy needs another one :-\) Haven't quite figured what to do with this but I guess it allows you to control the DVD player and CD player from your Hotel room bed :-O (what a great idea ;-) Great for watching those Lord of the Rings DVD's or those Dandelion Wine DVD's ;-) It is starting to finally warm up here and went to 40 F today and everything is melting with lakes of water everywhere. Not ideal for going for walks which I like to do. I am going for a drive today I think and check out the Red River to see if it is melting and maybe take some pictures. Then I am going back into my studio to lay down some more bass tracks on a ladies CD ;-) I have tomorrow (Monday) off from work (I work a 5 day 4 day schedule). I am going over to Dave's and maybe we will go out for lunch somewhere before I help him prepare things he is taking to FKO with him. Last Frdiay night. Dave and I went to see his grandson Jessie perform his first opening concert at the Academy Coffee House here. He did 3 songs and was joined by a girlfriend on one and he sounded great and played his own songs he wrote. Looks like the Decadent Dave Gene has been passed on :-) Jessie's mom is Cheryl a one time member of Dandelion Wine a number of years ago, and his Dad is Geoff who is also a musician who I was in a brief alternative rock band with called "The Crazed Weazles". I guess when you grow up around all that music and talent it has to wear off on you. My Dad played harmonica but couldn't carry a tune in a bucket he used to say. I do remember my mother singing in the kitchen all the time and she had a beautiful voice. My brother played guitar and sang country mostly and he was responisble for giving me my first guitar and lesson. My sister tells me she played guitar but I don't ever remember hearing her play. Well that is about it for now and I will try and update more often (I know you are all saying I bet ;-) Have a great time all those going to FKO and it will be a blast. Hugs to everyone and especially the copper lady ;-) Tom
